The Choirs of Trinity Cathedral
Trinity Cathedral has variety of choral ensembles that support its weekly liturgies throughout the year. Ensembles vary in size and constituency and are meant to serve the entire Cathedral community.
The Cathedral Choir
The Cathedral Choir is a semi-professional ensemble comprised of both professional staff singers and excellent volunteer musicians. The range of literature extends from the Renaissance through Contemporary periods and comprises the best of the Anglican choral tradition. The Cathedral Choir is one of the premier ensembles in the greater Phoenix area, serving the weekly 10:00 AM liturgy as well as singing the service of Solemn Choral Evensong once a month on the last Sunday of the month at 4:00 PM. Additionally, the Cathedral Choir is featured throughout the year on the Music at Trinity series.
The Cathedral Choir is an auditioned ensemble. Requirements include an ability to read music (singing at sight an unfamiliar work), excellent tuning and a voice of clear, straight-tone timbre that blends well with other voices. The Cathedral Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings.
Trinity Singers is group of dedicated, highly-motivated volunteer musicians who enjoy singing and wish to lead worship here at Trinity Cathedral. This ensemble welcomes all people who have a desire and willingness to sing on Sunday mornings. We rehearse once monthly on the fourth Sunday morning in the Auditorium. The Trinity Singers serve the 10:00 AM liturgy on the Fourth Sunday of each month.
The Youth Choir is open to all youth ages 7-18 and draws from both the Anglo and Hispanic communities in our congregation. In addition to singing for both the 10:00 AM and 12:30 PM liturgies, the youth choir learns the fundamentals of music and good vocal production. Extra-curricular activities throughout the year help build strong community among our singing youth. The Youth Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 6:00-6:45 PM in the Auditorium.
