Quilters
Our Cathedral Household has always been a place where people all come together and do work that benefits those in our community, and also those outside of our community who need a special sense of God's love during a time of need or celebration.
The Cathedral Quilters live out this ministry of hospitality in - literally - a touching way, by creating beautiful quilt gifts as a sign of the Cathedral's love and support.
Baptismal quilts are given to the parents of baptizands as a memento and reminder of the day their son or daughter became a part of the household of God, and as a treasured posession that reminds them of the baptismal covenants the Cathedral congregation has made to them: to raise children who are aware of, and blessed by, the love of our Lord and Savior.
Our Quilters group also makes healing quilts for those who are dealing with a time of illness. These quilts are often set out in our reception hall, and members of our community are invited to simply place a hand on the quilts and offer prayers for those who will receive them.
We know these gifts have blessed many in our community during key moments in their spiritual walk; we've heard about it ourselves.
If you are interested in hearing more about what the Quilters are doing, or would like to sign up to help (they meet here at the Cathedral on selected Saturdays), contact the church office at 602.254.7126 and we will put you in contact with Jeff Barrett and Dolly Forbes - our quilters group leaders.
