Joining Together to Help Seniors in Need

Budget cuts to dial-a-ride and reserve-a-ride mean many seniors have no way to get to and from doctor appointments and grocery stores. These are more than “errands” – they keep elderly “neighbors” living in their own homes.  Our congregation is part of Duet, a nonprofit that pairs volunteers with seniors who need help. Over 150 caring people have become Duet volunteers this summer. This is a terrific response to the transportation crisis! Yet, service requests continue to pour in.

To volunteer, attend one of the following orientations:

1) Sat., Sept. 11, from 9:00 – 11:30 AM at Trinity Mennonite Church, 4334 W. Vista Ave.;

2) Sat., Sept. 11, from 9:00 – 11:30 at Valley Presbyterian Church, 6947 E. McDonald Drive; or

3) Sat., Oct. 23 from 9:00 – 11:30 AM at All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 6300 N. Central Avenue.
